Playing Catch-Up

It's not that I do not think about updating the blog, or that I do not want to update the blog, it's that a certain person in polkadot pants does not like to sleep anymore. That equals mommy does not sleep anymore, and even my tiny jar of very expensive eye cream cannot hide that fact. Since the December infirmary incident, Kenna is giving us fits at night and during the day. It's no secret that she was (somewhat?) rotten before, but it's really bad now. When you are sick, it's okay to have a popscicle for breakfast. When you are not sick, surly you can have one if you throw yourself on the floor and scream for 20 minutes or so. That is the fun we are facing. Well, plus the fact that we are 2 and should get what we want all the time anyway. At night, she suffers from what can only be described as separation anxiety. She wakes up. I am not there, and she has anxiety. Anxiety for her comes in the form of jumping up and down and screaming in the hallway at 2am. It is safe to say, these are the best and worst of times. She is an absolute doll, and everything that comes out of her mouth is priceless, but when she's mad....look out.
So, I have blogged several entries to catch-up. Gotta keep the fans happy!

Christmas with William

Because we were so sick, we just got to have our Christmas with James, Lisa, and William this past weekend. William is getting so big! He will be 2 in February. Uncle James cooked homemade chicken fingers and mashed potatoes. It was a great time!!

Kenna Counting

Through hide and seek, Kenna has learned to count to 10. At the end she says "Ready or not, here I come." Then she says "My turn, Bella."

Fun at the Park

Amy blogged about this on the day we went which was last week, so I am very behind. This is Bella with our friends Allison & Aidan. Kenna was being too cool on the slide to pose for a picture. We had a fun time with them.

Chipmunk Fever

We are now the proud owners of at least one of every talking chipmunk from McDonald's. They are pretty cute, even when they are all talking at once. Thank you to all McDonald's staff who dug in the bottom of the toy bin aganist their will. You have made two little girls very happy.

Dr. Kenna & Want New Shoes

Since we spent the better part of December and the first part of January at the hospital and peadiatrician's office, Kenna has become very interested in the pretend doctor kit we have. She checks her babies, Bella's babies, and me over and over again. She looks in my ears and listens to my chest. Afterwards she tells me 'good girl mommy'. Here she is giving Bella's baby Lily a shot. After she gives me a shot, I say 'Ouch' and she laughs hysterically and says 'I sorry Mommy'. Maybe she will overcome the trauma soon.

An even funnier story is that this afternoon around 4pm I said to Kenna, "Go ask your sister if she wants mexican food for dinner." She ran into the other room, and I heard her ask but it sounded just like "You want new shoes, Bella?" You can guess what happened next. The shoe freak came running around the corner at 90 miles an hour and said "Momma, Kenna thinks I need new shoes." She had to settle for queso and chips. And yes, that is a bathing suit top she is wearing in the dead of winter. Thank goodness we live in Texas.

Back in Business

Kenna received a clean bill of health today from the doctor! Her ears and lungs are clear, and she is extra sassy. We will take Bella back next Monday to check her ear, and hopefully we will have put this month of sickness behind us.

Grandma stood with her arms folded alot when she was here because she was cold, and Kenna started to copy her. Now we find her standing around or sitting with her arms crossed like Grandma.

I must stand in front of our fridge like this.

Kenna is showing you her new lipgloss she got today for being a good girl at the doctor. She sat very still and let Dr. Chen look in her ears. The last two times we went to the dr. a nurse had to help me hold her down just for the quick exam. She was very brave today.

This is from when they were both sickie watching a movie in Bella's room. Kenna is wearing Bella's "I Love Grandpa" shirt. Wonder who bought that for her?

Where Have We Been?

Sick! Sick! Sick! It all started just before Christmas, and it is still dragging on. Strep, Bronchitis, some weird virus, and ear infections have been circulating through this house. Kenna bared the worst of it. A week ago Monday she started to cough and run a low grade fever. That night she ran 104.3 at one point. After blood work & a chest x-ray, they finally confirmed she had bilateral bronchitis, tonsilitis, and double ear infections. She was one very sick baby. She fought dehydration at the end and came desperately close to an IV. Thanks to my mom helping we were able to pull her back. She is still fighting one ear infection on oral antibiodics, and I take her back Monday to have it checked. At this point she HATES the doctor's office, and it is major drama when we go. Can't really blame her though.

Bella has fought cough and congestion for several weeks. She caught some virus while Kenna was sick and ended up on antibiodics again for an ear infection. She is doing better, but still coughing. I kept her home from school today. It was her first day back from Christmas break, but just couldn't bear to get her or Kenna out in the 20 degree weather.

Daddy was sick too with strep and bronchitis at the beginning of all this. He is doing fine now, but felt pretty yucky for several days.

We also manged to share our bugs with Aunt Laura, G, and Grandma.

And I must have an immune system of steele. Through all this, I have managed to only suffer a little sinus drainage and some clear fluid behind the ears that I am being treated for.

As soon as we are looking cute again we will post some pictures. I owe Granny a picture of my new chair.
